Cy Pres Funding ​

Join us in our mission to ensure equal housing opportunity and educate the community on the value of diversity in our neighborhoods. 

Cy pres awards have become an important source of funding for legal aid and access to justice over the past decade. Cy pres awards are funds that, for any number of reasons, are unclaimed or cannot be distributed to the class members or beneficiaries who were the intended recipients. Courts can distribute these residual funds to appropriate charitable causes, including nonprofit organizations providing civil legal services to the indigent. 

Because we are one of the only fair housing agencies in Northern California that provides full-service legal, advocacy and counseling, Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California is an appropriate recipient of cy pres funds. Many of our clients are low-income residents who are victims of housing discrimination.
