Education Programs for Homebuyers

Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California offers the following pre-purchase education workshops in English and Spanish in the fall and spring. 

Introduction to Homebuying and Affordable Homeownership Programs
A workshop that helps you prepare for the home buying process and gives you information on Below Market Rate (BMR) programs and other projects available in Marin County.  This event will bring together a panel of experts in the affordable housing field.  

Certification Workshop in English
This workshop gives you the HUD certificate that some programs require to be able to buy an affordable home.

Este taller llena los requisitos de certificación para comprar una unidad a bajo costo.

Marin Housing Authority

Offers BMR units located throughout Marin (except Novato). A BMR certificate is required for this program.

City of Novato
http://www.hellohousing.org/stewardship/cityofnovato
The City of Novato offers BMR units. No BMR certificate is required for these units.

Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling
www.cc-bc.com
Offers online certificate programs for BMR units through a six-hour course followed by a phone counseling session with a HUD certified counselor.

If you are in immediate need of a certificate for BMR units you may visit www.cc-bc.com.  This program offers on-line services through a six-hour course followed by a phone counseling session with a HUD certified counselor and a test. You will receive your certificate by email.
 
The City of Novato also offers BMR units.  For additional information, please visit: http://www.hellohousing.org/stewardship/cityofnovato
