  • Financial and credit management
  • The lending process and fair lending
  • ​Federal, state, and local programs and resources for first-time homebuyers (including Below Market Rate homeownership opportunities and downpayment assistance)

​HUD Certification:
  • This workshop offers the certificate needed to apply for Below Market Rate (BMR) homeownership opportunities and for first-time homebuyer assistance programs.  
  • ​Participants need to attend both days and fulfill all requirements to obtain a HUD Certificate. More details at registration.

and Reasonable Accommodations

The conference offers an overview of federal and state fair housing laws, followed by small group discussions to help find practical solutions to commonly asked questions from housing providers, service providers, and tenants on reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities during the application, occupancy, and eviction stages. The break-out sessions are interactive, and attendees are expected to actively participate.

The conference is appropriate for:

· Rental housing providers in the public and private sectors
· Resident & property managers
· Staff of assisted living facilities
· Service providers and advocates, including fair housing staff
· Attorneys and legal services staff
· Tenants with disabilities, or anyone who works with persons with special needs
 
Registration: 
Registration fee: $65 per person. Pre-registration is required (no walk-ins, please). Registration deadline: February 24. Full refunds for cancelations up to February 24. Scholarships for tenants with disabilities available. Buffet lunch will be provided.

Join us for an important virtual presentation by Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California mortgage fitness counselors on how to keep your mortgage healthy as safety nets disappear.  We will review current mortgage relief options and the steps you need to take on an annual basis to keep your mortgage on solid ground. 

This virtual workshop, which will last an hour, will provide guidance and resources. We will review the status of the California Mortgage Relief Program, as well as forbearance, deferral, modification and other home retention options offered by lenders. We will also take a look at charges on your mortgage statement that you may be able to reduce or eliminate.
