Topics to be covered include:
- The homebuying process and steps to homeownership
- Housing affordability
- Financial and credit management
- The lending process and fair lending
​- Federal, state, and local programs and resources for first-time homebuyers (including Below Market Rate homeownership opportunities and downpayment assistance)

​HUD Certification:
- This workshop offers the certificate needed to apply for Below Market Rate (BMR) homeownership opportunities and for first-time homebuyer assistance programs.

The conference offers an overview of the federal and state fair housing laws, followed by small group discussions to help find practical solutions to commonly asked questions from housing providers and tenants on reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities during the application, occupancy, and eviction stages. 
​
The program will include an interactive break-out session. Participants are requested to actively participate and have their cameras on during the session.
 
The conference is appropriate for:  
  • Rental housing providers in the public and private sectors
  • Resident & property managers
  • Staff of assisted living facilities
  • Housing/disability advocates and service providers (including fair housing staff) 
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Attorneys and legal services staff
  • Anyone who regularly works with persons with special needs 
 
The conference is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and co-sponsored by: Disability Services & Legal Center (DSLC), Disability Rights California (DRC), and Marin Center for Independent Living (MCIL).
 
Registration 
Pre-registration is required to attend. The registration fee is $20 per person. Scholarships are available. No one turned away for lack of funds. Contact us for more information.
